Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about lessons, pricing, scheduling and getting started.

Getting Started

Who are lessons for?+

Our lessons are open to students from 8 years and up. We tailor our teaching approach to suit each individual's learning style and goals - every student gets a plan built around them.

Are lessons suitable for adults?+

Absolutely. We teach both children and adults, including complete beginners starting later in life. It's never too late to pick up an instrument.

Can I book a trial lesson?+

Yes - we offer a free trial lesson so you can meet your tutor, see the studio and try the instrument before committing to anything.

What should I expect during my first lesson?+

We'll start by chatting through your goals, experience and musical interests. Then we'll get you playing - working on some basic techniques and a simple song.

How do I sign up for lessons?+

The easiest way is to book a free lesson online. You're also welcome to get in touch directly by email or phone and we'll sort everything from there.

Lessons & Learning

What styles of music do you teach?+

We cover a range of genres including rock, pop, blues, jazz, metal, funk and more. Let us know whenever you want to learn a specific song or style.

Do you prepare students for exams or performances?+

Yes - our tutors are well-versed in the RSL (Rockschool) and Trinity Rock & Pop syllabuses if you'd like to work towards graded exams. We can also prepare students for recitals, band performances or auditions.

Can I switch instruments?+

Of course! If you start with one instrument and want to switch, we can easily transition you to a new instrument.

Do you offer group lessons?+

We currently focus on one-to-one tuition to give every student personalised attention. We do run occasional workshops and group sessions - follow us on social media or ask us directly to hear about upcoming events.

Lesson Structure & Scheduling

How long are the lessons?+

Lessons are available in 30, 45 or 60-minute slots. For beginners, we typically recommend a weekly 30-minute lesson to start.

How often should I take lessons?+

We highly recommend weekly lessons for consistent progress. We also have a limited number of fortnightly slots, and students can book on an ad hoc basis through our online student portal.

Do you offer online lessons?+

Yes - we offer both in-person and online lessons via Zoom. That said, the vast majority of our students prefer face-to-face lessons and take full advantage of the professional equipment in our four teaching studios.

Equipment & Preparation

Do I need my own instrument?+

While it's beneficial to have your own instrument for practice, we provide instruments in all our studios so you can just turn up and play. We also offer guidance on purchasing your own instrument.

What should I bring to my lessons?+

Feel free to bring your own guitar or drum sticks if you have them (we keep spares at the studio), and any sheet music or songs you're working on. We provide everything else you need.

Can you help me choose an instrument to buy?+

Yes - we're always happy to advise on choosing the right instrument for your budget and goals. Just ask your tutor and they'll point you in the right direction.

Pricing & Policies

How much do lessons cost?+

Prices are the same for guitar, bass and drums:

  • 30 minutes - £20
  • 45 minutes - £30
  • 60 minutes - £40
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?+

We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged. Last-minute cancellations within that window can often be rescheduled within the following 7 days, depending on availability.

Is there a minimum commitment?+

No - you can start with a free trial lesson and continue at whatever pace suits you. We do recommend weekly sessions for the best progress.

Do you offer lesson vouchers?+

Yes - lesson vouchers make a perfect gift for music enthusiasts of any age.
