Luke Tarrant

Founder & Head of Tuition

Luke started private guitar tuition in early 2012 for local adults and children across Colchester and Braintree. He earned a BTech Level 5 Higher Diploma from the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) in 2013, later graduating with a first-class Bachelor of Music (BMus) honours degree.

He's taught at Honywood Community Science School, Colchester Rock Project, EJP Music School, Rocksteady, Herington House Preparatory School, Heathcote Preparatory School and Holmwood House School.

Tom Standen

Guitar & Bass

Experienced musician with 13+ years playing electric, acoustic and bass guitar across punk, rock, blues, jazz, reggae, pop, metal and gospel. Currently gigs with local punk and rock bands.

Studied at the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Guildford from 2014, graduating with a BMus honours degree in Professional Music Performance for Guitar. Tom likes to teach through songs students actually want to learn, but also offers structured Rockschool grade prep for all ages and levels.

Nathan Exley

Drums

18 years of drum study spanning Rock, Funk, Punk, Blues, Pop, Alternative and Rudimental Pipe Band drumming. Passionate about sharing what he knows while keeping lessons fun and goal-focused.

Dylan Rowsell

Drums

Graduated in 2020 from the University of Derby with a joint honours BA in Popular Music Production and Media Studies. 14+ years behind the kit, with previous teaching experience at drum tutoring providers and music academies. Dedicated to nurturing students' love of drumming.

Liam Gloster

Guitar & Bass

15+ years' playing experience with hundreds of performances nationwide and internationally. Started on electric guitar before moving to bass, with influences ranging from metal to classical. Teaches all ages and skill levels.

Jim Read

Drums

20+ years' one-to-one drum teaching experience. Currently teaches at Colchester Institute, covering live sound, band rehearsal skills and the music business. Has performed with local bands Rad Pitt and The Jorneta Stream at major festivals including Latitude and ArcTanGent.
